Heavy rain lashed Bangkok on Wednesday afternoon, flooding streets and snarling traffic under a dense, dark canopy of grey.
On Rama IV Road in Klong Toey district, traffic was crawling as vehicles sloshed through ankle-deep water and motorcyclists cowered before driving rain.
Many pulled over to seek shelter from the descending torrent, hastily pulling on raincoats over already-soaked clothing.
On the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 22 and Sai Nam Thip 2, a 7-11 was doing brisk business selling plastic ponchos as passers-by ducked into the shop to escape the onslaught from wind-whipped dark clouds above.
