Teen, boyfriend accused of raping autistic sister

The Songkhla Provincial Court has approved an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old girl accused of robbing her own house, assaulting her grandmother and letting her 22-year-old boyfriend rape her 12-year-old autistic sister.

The 12-year-old girl was rushed to a hospital on Aug 20 by relatives after her grandmother found her unconscious and exhausted, and with severe bleeding that suggested sexual abuse.

The grandmother then asked her older granddaughter and her boyfriend named Sanpitch Gobbai, or "Mok", whether they committed the crime.

At first, they denied it, but later admitted to penetrating the 12-year-old with a foreign object.

The next day, the 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend tied her grandmother up with rope and took a gold ring, mobile phone, 300 baht cash and a motorcycle before fleeing.

Police were alerted to the incident when relatives reported the events.

Pol Lt Col Prateep On-rod, inspector of Sadao Police Station in Songkhla, said the police have already visited the crime scene where the girl was raped and collected evidence.

The grandmother and relatives have also been summoned to provide more information, said Pol Lt Col Prateep.

Pol Col Sawat Srisangyong, superintendent of Sadao Police Station, said the police are now doing their best to locate the suspects who are believed to be hiding in Sadao district.

"There are five locations that the police are planning to search, but we will not reveal where just yet. I'm confident that the suspects will be brought to justice soon,"Pol Col Sawat said.
