A 72-year-old woman died at a beauty clinic in Bangkok's Wang Thonglang district late on Thursday night after being given an anaesthetic prior to a face lift.
Local police were informed of her death at the six-storey clinic on Soi Town In Town 6 about 9pm.
The doctor in charge told police the patient had an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic.
The woman was at the clinic for a "silk lift", a non-surgical procedure, media reported. .
Police said the doctor had a licence to provide the service. They would check if the clinic was licensed.
It was also reported that the clinic had opened only on Tuesday.
Police were investigating.
