15 passengers hurt when bus overturns in Chaiyaphum

CHAIYAPHUM: A chartered bus overturned in Chatturat district on Monday morning, injuring 15 passengers and the driver.

The driver of the bus, travelling from Bangkok to Nong Bua Lam Phu, lost control and ran off the road about 5.40am. It was carrying 30 passengers; 15 were  hurt. Driver Samart Chaichum was seriously injured, Pol Capt Yothin Dueanklang said.

All were taken to Chatturat Hospital. The other passengers were waiting for the Sawaengwong Tour Co to send another bus to take them to their destination.

Passenger Theerapat Klapchai said the bus left Bangkok around midnight. He and other passengers had felt the bus veer suddenly across the road, causing shouts of alarm, before it overturned.

Police were investigating.
