The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will raise the electricity charge for the January to April period in 2019 to an average of 3.6396 baht per kilowatt-hour (unit), up from 3.5966 baht currently.

Power bills have been stable over the four periods since September last year.

The ERC has now increased the fuel tariff in line with the rising cost of fuel used for electricity generation.

"We are informing electricity consumers in advance that the price trend is climbing up," the ERC announcement said.

It hoped the increased charge would not affect economic growth.
