With the Loy Krathong festival just two weeks away, superstar Urasaya "Yaya" Sperbund and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha have emerged as the people others would most like to go out with that night.
"Yaya" topped the list of actors and actress in a survey on Loy Krathong by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce released on Tuesday.
Ranee "Bella" Campen, who starred in the megahit TV series "Buppaesannivas" (Love Destiny), was second, followed by Yaya's longtime boyfriend, Nadech Kugimiya, lead actor in "Buppaesanniva", then Thanawat "Popo" Wattanaputi and Patcharapa "Aum" Chaichua.
Gen Prayut came out ahead in the list of favourite political figures respondents would most like to float a krathong with.
He was followed by three former prime ministers -- Thaksin Shinawatra, Abhisit Vejjajiva and Yingluck Shinawatra, the woman whose government Gen Prayut unseated in the 2014 coup. Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit wrapped up the top five in the category.
The survey did not provide percentages for their popularity.
The university said it surveyed 1,221 people, spread through all regions, during the Nov 1-9 opinion poll. About 75% of respondents said they planned to go out and enjoy the festival.
They expected the same fun as last year, but would spend less, the survey found. Last year they spent about 1,556 baht on average. This year, that would drop to about 1,442 baht.
Loy Krathong this year is on Nov 22.
