A 32-year-old woman who allegedly used another woman's photo to lure men into an online dating scam was arrested on Thursday in Lat Krabang district.

Nannalin Phakawatsuwan was nabbed at the car park of Rom Klao housing estate for allegedly tricking a businessman based in Chanthaburi into sending her almost 100,000 baht.

Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Atchariyapradit, a commander attached to the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said the case caught the MPB's attention when the victim, Sorachat Polwattana, shared his misfortune on social media. He said the suspect had befriended the victim on a dating app and used a fake profile. She also used a photo of another woman without the latter's knowledge to lure the victim.

As they maintained contact, the suspect, who used "Kwan" as her nickname, borrowed money from Mr Sorachat on various occasions, totalling 89,330 baht. Ms Nannalin eventually disappeared from the chat and could not be contacted when she could not return the money.

Pol Maj Gen Itthipol said that Ms Nannalin admitted she used the fake profile to lure men and swindled six to seven out of money over the past three years.

According to the suspect, she needed the money to support her children and the largest amount she received from a single victim was 100,000 baht.

Pol Maj Gen Itthipol on Thursday urged anyone who might have fallen prey to Ms Nannalin's scam to lodge complaints.
