Air quality in Bangkok and surrounding provinces improved on Sunday morning with readings ranging from moderate to very good levels, according to the Pollution Control Department.
Areas with moderate air quality were:
- Kanchanaphisek Road in Bang Khunthian district
- Rama IV road in Pathumwan district
- Intharaphithak Road in Thonburi district
- Lat Phrao road in Wang Thonglang district
- Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district
- Tambon Song Khanong in Samut Prakan's Phra Pradaeng district
- Tambon Omnoi in Samut Sakhon's Krathum Baen district
- Muang district of Nakhon Pathom province
Areas with good air quality with the levels of particulate matter 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter (PM2.5) measuring less than 50 microgrammes per cubic metre of air were:
- Bang Na area in Bang Na district
- Khlong Chan area in Bang Kapi district
- Din Daeng area in Din Daeng district
- Phaya Thai area in Phaya Thai district
- Phlap Phla area in Wang Thonglang district
- Tambon Bang Kruai in Bang Kruai district
- Tambon Bang Phut in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi province
- Tambon Khlong Nueng in Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani province
- Tambon Pak Nam in Muang district and tambon Bang Sao Thong in Bang Sao Thong district of Samut Prakan province
- Along Rama II road in Muang district of Samut Sakhon province.
Very good air quality -- with the levels of PM2.5 dust measuring less than 24mcg -- was reported in 20 areas including tambon Talat in Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan province.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)'s air and noise pollution control office reported that PM2.5 levels in the capital ranged from moderate to good in most of the districts and very good in Chom Thong and Bang Khunthian districts.
The improved air quality enabled the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2019 to go ahead as planned, with thousands of runners participating on Sunday morning. The 42.2km marathon started at 2am from the Rajamangala National Stadium, bound for the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Road.
Other runs, including 10K and 3.5K races, started at Wat Ratchanatdaram and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives on Ratchadamnoen road respectively. The finish line was at the City Hall.
