Temperatures of up to 43°C can be expected during summer this year, the Meteorological Department said.

The agency said Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Nakhon Sawan and Kanchanaburi could see maximum temperatures of 42-43°C.

The country would see this year’s average temperature 1-2°C more than that of last year, the department, noting that summer officially begins on Thursday. During summer, storms are still expected.

In late April, more rain, including torrential downpours, is predicted, according to the agency. The South could face 38-39°C maximum temperatures during the summer.

In Bangkok, the highest temperature is expected to be 35-37°C between February and March and 36-38°C from April to May.
