PATHUM THANI: A one-year-old boy was killed and three family members injured after a car slammed into their house in Muang district where the family was sleeping early Saturday.

The incident happened at the Wattana Karnchang garage in tambon Ban Mai, said Pol Col Anant Nampot, deputy investigation chief at the Pak Khlong Rangsit police station, who was alerted at around 2.40am.

A Honda car with Pathum Thani licence plates was found in a bedroom on the first floor of the two-storey house attached to the garage when police and rescuers arrived at the scene.

Garage owner Sanan Sutthiprapa, 46, his wife Supit Budprom, 38, and their daughter Sukanya Sutthiprapa, 3, sustained bruises and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The couple’s one-year-old son, Jeerawat Sutthiprapa, died on the spot.

The driver of the car, identified later as Jeerawat Changsak, 33, suffered broken legs and arms and was trapped inside the vehicle. A bottle of liquor and empty beer cans were found inside, Thai media reported.

Wattana Sutthiprapa, 17, another son of the couple, told police that there were six family members sleeping inside the house at the time. He and his aunt were sleeping on the second floor, while his parents and two young siblings were sleeping in the bedroom on the first floor.

The crash woke him up. He immediately went downstairs and found the car had plunged into his parents’ bedroom.

Police are preparing to question the injured driver to find out the cause of the crash and take action against him.
