Couple on motorbike plunge to death from Hat Yai overpass

SONGKHLA: A man and his wife were killed in a fall from a railway overpass over a railway in central Hat Yai city after their motorcycle collided with a car on Sunday morning.

Pol Capt Kampol Patarapongpan, a Hat Yai police duty officer, said the accident occurred at 5.25am. The car, a Toyota Camry, was driving towards downtown while the motorcycle was heading out of town.

The impact threw the couple on the motorbike, Sakkarin Sae Tan, 63, and his wife Somporn, 60, down to Ratthakan road four metres below in front of Hat Yai railway station. The couple sustained severe injuries to the head and body, and died instantly.   

The car rammed into the overpass railing and was badly damaged.  

The driver of the car fled the scene.

Police were looking for the car owner to help their investigation.
