A taxi driver has returned a bag containing cash worth about 400,000 baht and important documents to a Danish tourist and his Thai wife who left them in his cab.

Somsri Larat returned the black shoulder bag and contents to the two passengers at Suvarnabhumi airport around 4.30pm on Monday, airport managing director Sutheerawat Suwanwat said on Tuesday.

Mr Somsri had taken the couple, identified as Somjai Sonklad and her Danish husband, from the airport to 13 Coins Hotel in Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi, around 1.30pm that day.

When he later realised they had left a bag in his cab, Mr Somsri contacted airport staff to return it to them, Wg Cmdr Sutheerawat said.

The couple were impressed by the cabbie's honesty and thanked him and other officials.

The airport managing director said Mr Somsri’s action was good for the country's tourism image and would help draw more visitors.
