SONGKHLA: A 38-year-old man who allegedly shot dead a rival in full view of a 9-year-old boy in September last year was arrested at a shrimp pond in Khuan Niang district of this southern province on Tuesday.
Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police surrounded a makeshift shelter at the shrimp pond in tambon Bang Riang at around 6am on Tuesday after tracking down a key suspect involved in the killing of a man in Krabi last September.
Suspect Pisarn Thongmunee, a native of Krabi, was found sleeping inside the shelter when police moved in to arrest him.
Mr Pisarn, 38, was wanted for colluding in the murder of Sakhon Chansongsaeng, 54, at an oil palm plantation in Khlong Thom district, Krabi, on Sept 19, last year. The shooting occurred in full view of a 9-year-old boy, the victim’s nephew.
The suspect and two other men had talked with Mr Sakhon first before the shooting, said CSD police.
The suspect denied the charge of colluding in murder. He was handed over to Khlong Khom police station for legal action.
A criminal record showed Pisarn had six arrest warrants involving drugs, thefts, land encroachment and theft cases.
