A Vietnamese couple have been arrested for allegedly pickpocketing a visitor at an amusement park in Pathum Thani.

Phan Van Long, 60 and Ms Nguyen Thi Hien, 50 were taken to Thanyaburi police station for a media briefing on Monday. Seized from them were 9,120 baht cash, US$400, an iPhone and two other mobile phones.

The couple were arrested at Dream World amusement park in Thanyaburi district at around noon on Sunday, said Pol Col Wiwat Assayawiboon, chief of Thanyaburi police. Footage from a security camera showed the two suspects pickpocketing the victim.

Police then took the suspects to their hotel room on Khao San Road in Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok and seized some cash, a razor and a wallet.

A criminal record check showed the Vietnamese woman was involved in thefts in an area under the jurisdiction of Phra Nakhon police station last year.

During the interrogation, the man denied charges of colluding in the thefts, while the woman confessed to the charges. They were held in police custody at Thanyaburi police station.
