Six people, including two French nationals, were injured when a man ran amok in his vehicle, including driving on the wrong side of Si Rat Expressway, late yesterday afternoon.
It resulted in a series of car crashes on the outbound section of the expressway on the way to Suvarnabhumi airport.
According to police, the white Honda City began its journey of destruction by hitting two taxis and three motorcycles after coming out of Ramkhamhaeng Soi 26/1 in Bang Kapi district. It was driven by a 29-year-old man, identified as Detnarong Wongmoon.
The Honda made its way along Hua Mak Road and Rama IX Road before joining the expressway against the flow of traffic, police said.
The car then hit a Toyota Vios, which crashed into a taxi.
Kotchapon Srichanat and Duangporn Changsat, both 57, were injured inside the Toyota.
Taxi driver Panya Chalee, 27, was hurt along with his three male passengers -- one Thai and two from France.
Mr Detnarong suffered broken legs in the crash, police said.
The man tested negative for alcohol, however an empty whisky bottle was found inside his vehicle, according to police.
Officers were gathering evidence to press charges against the driver.
