TAK: The dirt road to Thi Lor Su waterfall will be closed from June 1 to Sept 30 for environmental rehabilitation and public safety, officials say.

Tak governor Charoenrit Sa-nguansat said on Tuesday that the Tak provincial administration and the management of the Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary would close the 25-kilometre-long route from the Huai Nong Luang forest protection unit to the waterfall.

The route would reopen on Oct 1 in time for the high season, he said.

Umphang district chief Pakawat Kantahiran said if the rough dirt road remained opened in the rainy season, the damage caused by vehicles would obstruct forest patrols.

Kusol Suwannaporn, chief of the wildlife sanctuary, said there had been heavy rainstorms and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation also ordered the closure of field trip locations and campgrounds in the wildlife sanctuary, as well as rafting along the Mae Klong River that connects to the Thi Lor Su waterfall, during the same period.
