Motorbike rams into power post, 2 killed

KANCHANABURI: Two teenagers were killed after a motorcycle they were rding rammed into a power post in Tha Muang district of this western province early on Sunday, police said.

Pol Lt Col Sukhon Rat-iam, the Tha Muang police chief investigator, said the accident occurred at about 2.40am in tambon Tha Lo.

Chalermkiat Thonnam, 17, and Soranan Jaijing, 18 were found dead at the scene.

Wipawan Usuwan, a friend of Soranan, told police that the two were transvestites. They were believed to be returning from a concert at a pub in Ratchaburi's Ban Pong district when the motorcycle they were riding rammed into the power post, she added.

Ms Sompis, Soranan's mother, said she last saw her son before dawn on Saturday, when he left home on a motorycle. She did not know his whereabouts until she was informed of his death.

Police were examining the footage of surveillance cameras in the area to establish the cause of the accident.
