Spurned lover gives foetus to her ex-boyfriend

Samut Prakan — Police are looking for a 21-year-old woman who allegedly had an abortion and delivered a box containing the dead foetus to her ex-boyfriend at his house in Samrong Nua district.

Pol Maj Natthawat Atthakijwiroj of Samrong Nua police station said his officers were trying to find the woman, identified only as Waew, for questioning over the disturbing delivery.

Police said Nanthawan Rattasapong, the owner of the house and the elder sister of Saharat Rattasapong, Ms Waew’s ex-boyfriend, was watching television and heard shouting.

She went outside and found Ms Waew holding a box, which she handed to Ms Nanthawan and asked her to pass it on to her brother.

Ms Waew then quickly left in a taxi. Ms Nanthawan opened the box and was shocked when she saw its contents and called police.

Police said the dead baby was wrapped in a white cloth. It was a boy about 28 weeks old, Pol Maj Natthawat said.

Mr Saharat told police he and Ms Waew worked in the accountancy division of a hotel in Bangkok and had an intimate relationship.

He said she was about five to six months’ pregnant when she told him she wanted to have an abortion. However, he said he asked her to keep the baby.

Mr Saharat said before the disturbing delivery he received a text message from Ms Waew, who told him she had been admitted to hospital for bleeding and might not survive. She also said she forgave him for everything.

Mr Saharat said he then received another text message, saying she had left the baby for him.

Pol Maj Natthawat said police suspected Ms Waew sneaked out of the hospital with the baby. She may have tried to abort the baby herself before seeking medical help, he said. Police had tried to contact her by phone. They will collect more evidence before summoning her for questioning.
