Veterinarians have concluded the gaur was shot dead at least seven days ago. A rifle bullet was found in the wild animal's liver. The gaur still had its horns.
Authorities believe the gaur was shot by a hunter in a different area and it fled to Ratchaburi where it eventually succumbed to its injuries, said Pol Maj Gen Krisana.
Forensic results from the bullet will be known today.
