A lawyer for former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has again sought an injunction against the seizure of her assets by the Legal Execution Department.
Noppadol Laothong said on Thursday the move was a normal exercise of rights after the Finance Ministry issued the executive order demanding her to pay the damages caused by the rice-pledging programme even though the court had yet to rule her guilty.
“Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha also used his Section 44 power to protect legal execution officials in seizing her assets. This is unusual. In other cases, if the government issues an administrative order for damages, the case will be filed with the Administrative Court and all sides would wait until the final ruling,” he said.
The petition also claimed the damage might be irreparable if Ms Yingluck’s house on Soi Yothin Pattana Soi 3 in Bangkok where her son and husband live was sold and she was found not guilty later.
