Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will be in Nakhon Pathom for a one-day visit on Wednesday to see how government-led agriculture policies are being implemented.
According to assistant government spokesman Col Thaksada Sangkhachan, the prime minister and his entourage will spend the day talking to rice and dairy farmers, among others, about their problems.
Gen Prayut is scheduled to begin the day at a learning centre to help raise productivity among those who make agricultural products in tambon Laembua of Nakhon Chaisi district.
He is expected to meet people who have successfully adopted the sufficiency economy philosophy of the late King Bhumibol and made use of technology to reduce rice production costs.
Gen Prayut and his cabinet ministers will take part in rice farming at a demonstration farm.
The prime minister’s next stop is a land plot at Ban Saladin in tambon Mahasawat of Buddha Monthon district, where he will visit a lotus farm operated by Jaem Sawatto.
The plot was donated by the late King in 1975, marking the country’s land reform programme, said Col Thaksada.
Gen Prayut will also visit Ban Saladin floating market, which has been developed and integrated into the government’s Pracha Rat market programme.
Run by community and local officials based on the late king’s philosophy for sustainability, the market offers mainly agricultural products.
The prime minister will also hear villagers speak about solving community problems together.
In the afternoon he is due to inspect dairy farming cooperatives in Kamphaeng Saen district.
He will also witness the provincial governor hand farming machinery over to local farmers and hold talks with their representatives.
