Former election commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has said he wants to run for MP under the Democrat Party banner in Samut Sakhon or Bangkok.
Mr Somchai made his intentions clear after applying for Democrat party membership on Sunday.
Although he said he will leave the decision to the party, the former EC key man said his personal goal was to represent a constituency in his home province of Samut Sakhon or Bangkok, where he studied and worked.
Mr Somchai was sacked by the National Council for Peace and Order in March after slamming the regime as unfair for removing all existing election commissioners and selecting new ones.
He said being a member of the oldest political party will not tone down his political criticism.
He wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday that he had selected the Democrat party over several other parties wanting to recruit him.
