Sontirat tells NE candidates they will be in govt

KHON KAEN: Sontirat Sontijirawong, commerce minister and secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party, met its candidates for the Northeast, the country's biggest region, and assured them the party would be in the next government.

He met members and potential MP candidates of his newly established party at Kosa Hotel in Muang district on Sunday. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, strategic head of the party's northeastern campaigns, and other key party figures accompanied Mr Sontirat at the meeting. They discussed the political situation and campaign techniques in the lead-up to the next general election.

"Members of the Palang Pracharath Party come from many factions. Everyone was looking forward to their membership of the party... I assure you that the Palang Pracharath will be a coalition party," Mr Sontirat said.

He also said that the party would be intensify its campaign until the election date and he hoped Mr Suriya,  with his power and large circle of friends, could help its potential candidates in the Northeast.

Mr Suriya said that he knew most of the party's members and potential candidates in the Northeast well and they had worked together politically during their past time with the Thai Rak Thai Party. He also said the party had detailed election campaign plans for the Northeast.
