CHACHOENGSAO: A campaign billboard for the Thai Raksa Chart Party has been set on fire and partly damaged in Constituency 3 of this eastern province.

The 2 x 3 metres billboard outlining policies of the Thai Raksa Chart Party, an off-shoot of the Pheu Thai Party, was erected on one side of the road along an irrigation canal near a village in tambon Ko Khanum of Phanom Sarakham district at about noon on Thursday, Jan 17.

Early on Friday, it was found to have been burned and partly damaged. It was not known who was responsible.

Adul Saengchan, a former chairman of the Ko Khanun tambon administration organisation (TAO), is expected to run under the banner of Thai Raksa Chart. Core party member Chaturon Chaisaeng is a veteran politician in Chachoengsao.

Apart from Mr Adul, Constituency 3 of Chachoengsao is expected to be fiercely contested by several well-known candidates. They include Suchart Tancharoen, an experienced ex-MP running for the Palang Pracharath Party; Ros Maliphon, a former Pheu Thai MP who has defected to Bhumjaithai; Chatchai Khemthong of the Democrat Party; and Suntorn Yosingchanang of the Future Forward Party.
