The Bhumjaithai Party has wrapped up its election campaign in the Northeast with a promise to reduce political conflicts by cooperating with any parties.
"We are ready to work with parties that are loyal to the institute of the monarchy, can make the country thrive and do not lead the country into conflict. If a party meets our conditions, we will support it and its prime ministerial candidate," Anutin Charnvirakul, the party leader told around 1,000 people in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The party expected to come in third place in the March 24 general election, with around 40 seats, mainly from the northeastern region.
Yet Mr Anutin, also a construction tycoon, is said to harbour hopes of becoming prime minister too, if the parties which come together to form a governing coalition cannot settle on a prime minister.
Bhumjaithai Party has confirmed it is happy to join a governing coalition.
"But we will not hesitate to quit the coalition if political conflict arises," he said.
However, the party leader attacked the pro-regime Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP)'s policy pledge to increase the minimum daily income.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) expects 80% of eligible voters to cast ballots in today's advance voting, said EC chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong.
He said the EC is ready to operate the advance polls. About 2.6 million people are registered to vote early.
