Election officials at a polling station in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Sikhiu district have come under fire for pinning a sheet of white paper over the details of the Future Forward Party candidate on the noticeboard.

Photos showing the paper obscuring candidate No 3's details and photograph were widely shared online on Sunday, drawing a barrage of criticism of the election officials.

Facebook user Apisak Sukkasem, who posted the photos, wrote a message on his Facebook page on Sunday morning, “At Ban Nam Mao polling station in tambon Lad Buakhao in constituency 3 of Nakhon Ratchasima’s Sikhiu district, election officials used a piece of white paper to cover a document of the Future Forward candidate, claiming she had been disqualified. However, a check revealed that the candidate was not disqualified. The Election Commission and officials at the polling station must provide an answer.”

Thai media reported that party candidate Suwadawadee Poonworasakul had already filed a complaint with Sikhiu police against poll officials for covering her candidacy document.
