Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon on Wednesday shrugged off the announcement by the Pheu Thai Party and its allies of a prospective government coalition as being premature.
"They can talk, but the EC (Election Commission) has not officially announced the election results. Wait until after May 9," Gen Prawit said. The commission has said it will announce the official results by May 9.
"Our plan is that the government will be formed after the royal ceremonies," Gen Prawit said.
He denied the pro-regime Palang Pracharath Party had discussed with him the formation of the next government.
"I am not involved. How can I be?" Gen Prawit said.
He said it was planned that the next government will be formed after the coronation, he did not know the details.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Wednesday that Pheu Thai's seven-party coalition announcement was only a psychological ploy, because the official election result was still not known.
"People are eager to know. That is only for daily consumption," he said.
"The outstanding five percent of election results (from the EC) is a lot of votes and some prospective MPs could be disqualified because there have been more than 100 electoral complaints which need to be investigated," he said.
In politics, even with a signed agreement, things can change on a daily basis, Mr Wissanu said.
