The junta has issued 456 announcements and orders over the past five years and 65 of them will continue to take effect after the new government is sworn in.
Of the total documents, 132 are the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s announcements issued before the government was formed, 166 are the NCPO’s orders and 158 are the NCPO chief’s orders issued under Section 44 of the interim charter, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Tuesday.
In terms of status, 74 of the total were already repealed, 133 ceased to take effect after missions were completed, 39 will end automatically and 210 are being reviewed.
Of the 210 orders under revision, 68 will be repealed by an NCPO order, 77 will be replaced by orders issued by relevant ministries and 65 will remain in effect.
“It’s necessary that they remain in effect as requested by related agencies. They involve actions on migrant workers, illegal fishing or civil aviation. The next government can enact, repeal or amend them as it sees fit,” he said.
Also over the past five years, the cabinet submitted 456 bills which were subsequently passed by the NLA. “Among the important ones are laws on business collateral, corporate income tax reduction, facilitation of licensing service, setups of new ministries, as well as the justice fund,” Mr Wissanu said.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said over the past five years this government had not caused damage to the country and that the government and the NCPO will publish their achievements on their websites soon.
“Our strength is stability and order and we plan to transfer the duties of the NCPO to the Internal Security Operations Command as a unit. It will have to comply with a government’s policies and take the prime minister’s orders regardless of who it is,” Gen Prayut said.
