PATTANI: An assistant village chief was shot to death while praying in a mosque in Thung Yang Daeng district on Saturday night, police said.
Makhata Cheteh, 51, an assistant chief of Ban Talo Bongae in tambon Paku, was in the village mosque at about 7.30pm along with other villagers when the noise of a gunshot was heard.
Makhata was shot in the head and killed instantly. The unknown attacker fled.
Police were investigating.
