Two ATMs bombed in Songkhla

SONGKHLA: Bombs exploded at two ATMs of the Government Savings Bank, in Thepha and Saba Yoi districts, on Sunday evening about the same time others went off in the neighbouring three southernmost provinces.

One of the explosions occurred at an ATM located inside a petrol station in tambon Sakom, Thepha district. The other was at an ATM in tambon Ban Nod, Saba Yoi district.

The cash dispensers were damaged but there were no reports of injuries.

The blasts occurred about the same time as those in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces, where seemingly coordinated attacks occurred about 7pm Sunday. A total of 17 incidents have been reported so far.

Pattani authorities reported eight explosions in four districts in which two people were wounded.

Sompit Sakoljit, 54, and Somjit Srisombat were injured in the explosion at an ATM in front of Kasikorn Bank on Yarang road in Muang district.

Narathiwat officials reported two explosions and a gun attack in two districts.

Bombs targeting ATM machines were reported in Rangae and Bacho districts while gunmen fired shots at paramilitary ranger base in  Bacho district. No one was injured.

In Yala, authorities reported four explosions, one each in Kabang district, Banang Sata district, Than To district and Raman district. There were no reports of injuries.
