Man detained after Songkhla market attack killed 3

SONGKHLA: One of four men suspected in the fatal shooting of two defence volunteers and a deputy village head in Thepha district of this southern province on Sunday has been arrested.

Security officers on Tuesday searched suspected hideouts of the culprits behind the shooting at a local market in tambon Tha Muang on Nov 25, and managed to arrest one suspect at a house in Sabayoi district of this southern border province.

Dolromae Sani was apprehended and sent to the 43rd ranger task force base in Pattani for questioning, said a security officer.

Police said the attack happened at the Tha Yee weekend market in Ban Huay Pling village, Thepha district at 5pm on Sunday. Defence volunteers Krisada Ti-idayor and Jaran Chanthamunee, together with Abdulloh Yeeman, deputy head of Ban Hua Plinkg, were shot dead.

Authorities said four armed men were suspected to have carried out the attack.

Earlier reports described the victims as two paramilitary rangers and one deputy village head.
