Thai League club SCG Muang Thong United and League One side Port have jointly issued measures to prevent their fans from fighting each other.

Fans of the two clubs were involved in a brawl outside SCG Stadium after a League Cup match last week.

More than 10 people were injured in the clash after Muang Thong beat Port 2-1 in the semi-final second leg.

Muang Thong won 3-2 on aggregate and will now face bitter rivals Buriram United in the final next month.

The Football Association of Thailand on Tuesday banned fans of both sides from entering any stadium for the rest of the season.

Muang Thong have also been banned from playing at their SCG Stadium for five games, two this season and three next term.

Additionally, each club face a maximum fine of 133,333 baht.

"SCG Muang Thong United and Port FC feel sorry and do not want such an incident to take place,'' Muang Thong said in a statement.

It said a small group of fans had tarnished the reputation of the clubs in particular and Thai football in general.

The statement said troublemakers will be barred from entering the stadiums.

Both clubs have agreed to tighten security and take drastic action against those who cause trouble in the future, the statement added.

They will hold a meeting of fans of the two clubs and arrange friendly and charity matches between the two teams, it said.

VALENCIA SACK COACH

Struggling La Liga giants Valencia sacked coach Pako Ayestaran on Tuesday after failing to pick up a single point in their opening four league games of the season.

The former Liverpool assistant manager took charge in March when Gary Neville's ill-fated three-month spell as boss came to end and initially guided Valencia away from the relegation zone with three wins in his first four matches.

However, seven consecutive defeats since have left Los Che rooted to the bottom of La Liga. bangkok post/afp
