Equestrianism dominates at Princess's Cup

The Princess's Cup Thailand 2017 will feature many equestrian competitions and fun-filled activities at the 29th Royal Stable Unit, Sanam Pao in Bangkok, daily from 8am-6pm until Sunday. The grand opening ceremony is today at 3.30pm and will be presided over by HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

Held to promote equestrianism to the Thai people and show the world how capable Thailand is in the sport, the event sees more than 10 countries competing in many categories such as jumping, dressage and eventing, as well as best farrier and best grooming for horses.

The event is supported by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, and representatives from the diplomatic corps and international organisations in Thailand will be participating in the event.

The event also comes with many activities including a dog show featuring toy dogs performing tricks and a dog beauty contest today, Saturday and Sunday; a flea market offering home decorations in vintage styles as well as handmade woodcarvings from more than 60 shops and food trucks serving a variety of dishes. Both the flea market and food trucks will be open from 11am-10pm from Friday to Sunday at the Royal Horse Guard on the same premises.

There also will be a pony ride for kids, a horse-feeding area, an animal farm, and street performances. The highlight will be a gala dinner on Sunday, where equestrians will be seen dressed up in beautiful and luxurious clothes and the winner of each category will be announced.

Most of the awards will be given by the board of Thailand Equestrian Federation. Awards for the main events will be personally presented by HRH Princess Sirivannavari herself.
