Defending champions Buriram United dropped points for the first time this season in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Bangkok United on Saturday night, throwing the Thai League 1 race wide open.

In a first for the club, Sukhothai could take over the sole possession of the top spot but to achieve that, they would need to beat Nakhon Ratchasima in an away game tonight.

Pansa Hemviboon put Buriram ahead in the sixth, but Bangkok United responded with two goals through Teerathep Winothai (12th minute) and Robson Fernandes (55th). Edgar Bruno gave the Thunder Castle the leveller in the 57th.

Former giants Chonburi's miserable run in the league continued with a 2-0 home loss to Bangkok Glass adding to their woes, sending them tumbling down to the five-team relegation zone last night.

The Sharks were rattled in the 17th minute when their goalkeeper Chanin Sae-ear was given the marching orders for bringing down Bangkok Glass player Federic Mendy.

Chonburi were able to hold their ground for another half an hour but then saw Bangkok Glass pick up their first goal in the 50th minute through Federic Mendy.

Bangkok Glass pushed the match out of their under-strength rivals' reach five minutes from time when Mario Gjurovski's corner kick was headed home by Matt Smith.

The Sharks are now languishing in 15th place in the table with only four points from their five league games.

Bangkok Glass, with seven points, remained tied for the sixth place with last year's runners-up SCG Muang Thong United, who play their fifth match against top-flight first-timers PT Prachuap tonight. Also last night, Navy had to settle for a lone point after being held to a goalless draw by Suphanburi at their Navy-Sattahip Stadium.

At Khao Plong Stadium, Police Tero claimed their first win of the season, defeating hosts Chainat 4-2 on Friday night.

The Hornbills got off to a good start when Diouf Bireme shot them into the lead at 15 minutes, but the home team fans' celebrations lasted only a minute as Douglas da Silva equalised for Police Tero with a long shot.

Michael N'Dri headed in Police's second and the Frenchman was on target again three minutes before the break to put the visitors 3-1 in front.

Chainat reduced the deficit through a Nattapol Theputhai header but Police saw their Myanmar striker Aung Thu get on the score sheet in the 70th minute to make it 4-2.
