Defending champions Buriram United, still savouring their elevation to the AFC Champions League knockout stages, are confident of securing three points from their visit to Chiang Rai United in Thai League 1 tomorrow.

Buriram qualified for the last-16 phase of the Asian club championship following their 1-0 victory at South Korea's Jeju United on Tuesday.

But the Thunder Castle are aware of the severity of the task they face in the away game at Chiang Rai.

Their manager Tatthep Pitakpoolsin said: "It will be another difficult game for Buriram.

"We played in the AFC Champions League in midweek and many of our players look tired. This will be our fourth match in 10 days, which is quite taxing on players.

"I think the coach will rotate some players, but we are confident of meeting our target of claiming three points from the match."

Buriram's strikeforce will be led by in-form striker Diogo Luis Santo and his Brazilian compatriot Edgar Bruno who will be supported by young midfielder Supachok Sorachat.

Chiang Rai United coach Alexandre Gama is keen to exploit the weariness of his opponents when he meets his former club.

"Buriram are a good team, but they have played a lot of matches in one month," said Gama.

"Their players will surely be exhausted, so may be we can record a win against them at our home ground."

Buriram's hectic schedule continues next month when they take on South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the last-16 round of the AFC Champions League.

The first leg will be played on May 8 and the second on May 15.

Thai league officials have rearranged Buriram's matches in the top flight, which include a clash with arch-rivals and former champions, SCG Muang Thong United.

According to the new schedule, Buriram will play Muang Thong United on May 4, face Police Tero on May 12, and take on Pattaya United on May 20.

Meanwhile, Muang Thong United, lagging 10 points behind runaway leaders Buriram, face a tricky assignment at Chonburi tonight.

Chonburi's media director Jeerasak Chomthong said: "We are getting some of our injured players back for the game, making our team quite perfect.

"We will be playing at our home ground, so we have to look for ways of winning this game. But Muang Thong are a good team and we won't underestimate them. In every aspect of the game and at every position, we are the underdogs."

Kirins caretaker coach Santi Chaipuek said: "We expect a tough game at Chonburi. They always play well at home and get good support from their fans. However, we will try our best to win and pick up three points from the game."

Second-place PT Prachuap can also expect a tough battle this evening when they visit Port, a team looking to bounce back from a spate of poor results.
