Thai League 1 strugglers Air Force Central have parted ways with Australian coach Andrew Ord, the club said yesterday.

Goalkeeping coach Jason Brown has been appointed as caretaker boss.

Air Force CEO Saran Santipattanachai said both parties agreed to terminate the contract on mutual consent.

"Andrew wants to shoulder responsibility as the team have not made much progress since he took the job," he said.

Ord is the 14th coach in the top flight to quit or get fired. He succeeded Sasom Pobprasert who resigned following poor results.

Air Force are last in the 18-team league and hot favourites to go down to Thai League 2.

At the halfway stage of the season, they have five points from 17 games. With five teams relegated, they are 16 points from safety.

Heberty signs new deal

Thai League 1 club SCG Muang Thong United have extended their contract with Brazilian striker Heberty Fernandes for another two years, the Kirins announced yesterday.

The move ended speculation that the forward would join Chiang Rai United in the second half of this season.

Muang Thong director Ronnarit Suewaja said: "This is an important day for the club as we have signed a new contract with Heberty. He is our top scorer and we would like to thank him for remaining with us.

"Although he received many offers from clubs in Malaysia and the Middle East, he chose to stay with us."

Heberty said: "I am very happy at Muang Thong so I have never thought about leaving the club. I will work hard to bring success to the team."

The league will resume this weekend after a two-week break.

Buriram are leaders with 41 points, two ahead of Bangkok United.

Port are third on 34 points and Muang Thong fourth on 30.
