Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will defend his WBC super-flyweight title against a yet-to-be-named challenger in Bangkok on Oct 6, organisers said on Monday.

It will be his third title defence, and first one home soil, since dethroning previously unbeaten Roman Gonzalez at New York's Madison Square Garden in March last year.

The Thai stopped the Nicaraguan in the fourth round in a rematch at StubHub Center in California in September.

The 31-year-old champion successfully defended the title with a win over Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico at the Forum in California in February.

"I am very excited to defend my title in Thailand,'' Srisaket told a press conference.

The bout at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, will be part of a ONE Championship martial arts event.

“I am happy and honoured to be part of this historic ONE Championship event,'' said Srisaket.

"With ONE Championship opening its doors for athletes like me to showcase our talent on the global stage, it means a lot. This is a new challenge, and I love challenges. I am looking forward to defending my WBC title belt in ONE Championship.”

Before that fight, Srisaket will have a 10-round warm-up bout against South Korea's Bae Young-Gil in Pathum Thani on July 21.

It will be his first bout in Thailand since December 2016.

ONE boss Chatri Sityodtong said: “It is my honour and my pleasure to see some of the greatest martial artists on the planet compete in ONE Championship. This October, talented athletes from boxing, mixed martial arts and Muay Thai will join together under one roof."

The event, dubbed ONE: Kingdom of Heroes, features a number of Thai MMA stars including Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex and Petchmorrakot Wor Sangprapai.
