Defending champions Buriram United will have their plans ready for a party tonight when they face relegation-threatened Police Tero, needing a win in the home game to lift the Thai League 1 trophy for a record sixth time.

If the Thunder Castle deliver the expected result and celebrate the title with three games to spare, the mood in the Police camp would be quite sombre.

Police are in 15th place -- two points away from the safety zone -- and another loss could prove to be a big blow to their dream of surviving in the top flight for another year.

At the end of this season, five teams will be relegated to the second tier as the number of clubs in the top division will be reduced to 16 from the current 18.

Buriram are currently nine points ahead of second-placed True Bangkok United, who host Sukhothai tomorrow.

The league leaders will be without Chittipat Thanklang, who will be serving out a one-match suspension tonight.

However, Buriram assistant manager Sirichai Kimoto said yesterday that Chittipat isn't their only worry.

"We have a problem in the midfield as Chittipat is suspended and Supachok Sarachart is having fitness issues," said Sirichai, adding: "We will run a check on Supachok before the match with Police Tero."

Sirichai said his men were determined to make amends for the loss suffered in the League Cup semi-finals on Wednesday, when the Thunder Castle went down 2-1 to Bangkok Glass.

"After we lost to Bangkok Glass in the League Cup, we were very disappointed," he said.

"But it's football and we did not play well against Bangkok Glass. We have to accept the defeat and move on.

"We are focused on claiming three points from the game with Police Tero and achieve our target of retaining the Thai League title."

Their strikeforce will be led by Diogo Luis Santo who has failed to score in three consecutive games.

Police Tero manager Thanya Wongnak said his team were determined to delay Buriram's celebrations.

"We have had a week's rest and do not have any problems with the players' fitness. We are ready for the game with Buriram United," he said.

"The change of coach will not have any effect on the mentality of players because Rangsan Viwatchaichok has been with the team for a long time. He was the team coach before Totchtawan Sripan.

"Every player knows that these four remaining matches are very important for the team and we have to play every match like the final.

"We will not let Buriram have an easy time. If they get to celebrate the title at all after this game, it would be only after a very tough tussle.

"Our team management is offering a special bonus of 500,000 baht for the team if they can beat Buriram in this away game. We have no other choice but to win and claim three points in every game from now."

Port, chasing a top three finish in the league, are hoping for a victory when they host Suphanburi tonight.

They will also be wishing that SCG Muang Thong United, who lost 3-0 to Buriram last week, falter at lowly Chainat against the odds and hand over the third spot back to Port.

Meanwhile, Bangkok United are eyeing a victory over Sukhothai tomorrow night.

Watsapol Kaewpaluek, assistant coach of Bangkok United, said: "We don't have any injury worries and are ready for the game with Sukhothai.

"Although we are nine points behind and have given up our chase of the league title, we still want to win this match. Sukhothai are a good team and they are struggling to stay in Thai League 1, so this game could be a difficult one for us."
