PATTAYA: Amy Yang of South Korea and Minjee Lee of Australia went on a birdie binge on Saturday to move to 15 under par for a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament at Siam Country Club Pattaya.

The co-leaders will have a lot of talent breathing down their necks on Sunday, including second-round leader Jenny Shin. The South Korean staged some late heroics with a birdie on the 17th hole and an eagle on the 18th to get to 13 under par.

Another stroke back is young American Nelly Korda, who won the Women’s Australian Open last week. She continued her red-hot play with a 6-under round to get to 12 under par. She’s joined by compatriot Austin Ernst and first-round leader Ji Eun-hee of South Korea.

Five golfers are another stroke back including world No.11 Brooke Henderson of Canada.

The chances of seeing a home-grown champion are fading unless the Jutanugarn sisters can pull off a miracle finish on Sunday. Ariya and Moriya are seven shots off the lead at 8 under par.

World No.1 Ariya has struggled this week but had a more consistent round on Saturday, shooting 4 under with just one bogey and five birdies. Moriya had three bogeys to go with four birdies to finish 1 under for the day.

The sisters, who have rarely been paired in a tournament, will both tee off at 9.20am Sunday in a threesome with Katherine Kirk of Australia.
