TOKYO: A magnitude 6.3 earthquake has shaken part of southwestern Japan but appeared to cause no damage.
The quake struck at 8.48am local time (6.48am Thailand time), with its epicentre off the coast of Miyazaki prefecture on Kyushu island at a depth of 20 kilometres, the agency said.
The US Geological Survey put the magnitude of the quake at 6.4.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued no tsunami warning though it said there might be slight sea level changes.
