What If?

What If?

What if the government decides to allocate budgets for weaponry and freebies and spend them on other causes? Let's entertain that thought. Shall we?

Scenario 1

With B2.8 billion to buy Stryker tanks, we can...

...grow 9,333,333 trees, which could buffer some flood and purify the air. This estimation is based on BMA plan to grow 100,000 trees in 2019 worth B30 million. That comes to about B300 per tree.

...buy 45,500++ units of Shoal floating tents for the price of US$1,999 each because -- let's face it -- we're going to have flood every year.

Scenario 2

With B10 billion the government plans to give to 10 million people through Chim Chob Chai initiative, we can...

...almost pay for a plan to grow 1 million rais of forest, according to a proposal put forth by a committee on irrigation and flood management back in 2013. The committee estimated that it would cost 10,142 million baht to reforest 1 million rai of land within five years. Forest can help purify the air and buffer flood, too.

...buy 7,429,657 people each a copy of Google for Dummies. According to our PM Prayut Chan-o-cha, the people who are non-leaders don't use Google to harness the power of knowledge unlike the leader type, like him, who uses it all the time.

...buy 189,035 units of 512GB iPhone 11 Pro Max. Just cause.

...buy 45,454,545 packs of 3M N95 masks from Lazada to protect Thai people from PM2.5 dust particles. I know, it's a bandage solution but let's face it, like a flood, we're going to have air pollution crisis every year.

One can always dream, right?
