If Thai politics were good... part 2

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood returned as a trending hashtag on Twitter earlier this week. The heavy rain may help give it a boost as people have taken to it to air grievances about the status quo, paint an ideal picture of Thailand and even made light of Thai politics. Here are a few memorable ones for your entertainment (and commiseration).

@processic

This country is quite cruel. Those with bad legs or eye sight or those who use a wheelchair can't live their lives freely. Look at the footpaths in our capital. If you're poor, you could stay at home until you die of boredom. If you're rich enough to drive a car or hire someone to take care of you, you're lucky.

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, every life would have the right to use even and wide footpaths. I've been to 10 countries, theirs are better than ours.

@El2aZ

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, we'll have a good public transport system and better traffic. We'll have a drainage system good enough to reduce rain water quickly and places won't stay flooded for days. We'll have a governor that is elected by Bangkokians and not randomly selected like a gashapon ball...And, many people won't be late for work today [because of heavy rain in the morning].

@sirotek (Sirote Klampaiboon, Voice TV host)

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, ordinary children will have access to good libraries. Soldiers mustn't use taxpayers' money to build a luxurious library only for their children [in response to the opening of a new library built exclusively for children of soldiers at the HQ of Thai Royal Army].

@zhedsz

They say Bangkok is built by gods. I guess that god is Phra Phirun [god of rain]. That's why it's so flooded #IfThaiPoliticsWereGood.

@tanawatofficial (Tanawat Wonghcai, political activist)

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, one heavy rain won't paralyse the entire city.

People won't have to face hardship, being stuck in traffic and facing floods.

We'll have good public transport, good water management system and good urban planning.

And we'll have a governor [of Bangkok] who comes from the people, not from an order of PM Prayut.

@chapech4849

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, people won't have to go to a state-run hospital at 5am in order to meet a doctor at 2pm.

@wirojlak (Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, Move Forward Party party-list MP)

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, those who work for the govt's IO (Information Operations) earning extra 100-300 baht may get to work in social media marketing and earn thousands of baht a month instead.

@diamon_mr

#IfThaiPoliticsWereGood, civil servants will receive promotions based on their performance. Their promotions won't depend on how long have they worked there or the connections they have within their organisation.

They can report any unusual activities within their organisation and receive due protection as a witness.

They will have a better quality of life as they deserved all along. And they won't be taken advantage of by those who are above them as they currently are.
