Risky Section 20?

Because Section 20 of the Computer Crimes Act is highly inappropriate, must it not, therefore, be banned forthwith? And should those inciting or enabling its use not be prosecuted for such inappropriate behaviour that threatens to undermine good public morals, since their inappropriate acts thereby pose a grave risk to national security?

Not ready for choice

My letter is a response to those who are curious about how long Prayut Chan-o-cha can last as premier.

Since becoming Thailand's prime minister following the March 24 election, Gen Prayut has changed a lot -- whether in a good way or bad way is a matter of opinion.

The former general -- who led a coup to topple the democratically-elected Pheu Thai government in 2014 -- has morphed from a serious-looking military man into an ever-smiling and joke-cracking politician.

This is despite the opposition MPs' consistent attempts to turn the tables on him and his government in every way they can.

That being said, there seems to be a consensus among the majority of Thais that the country today may not yet be ready to become a full-fledged democracy, and to exact drastic political or constitutional changes now will only invite conflagration that could split the country asunder.

Hence, the coup-leader accusation levelled against him notwithstanding, Gen Prayut is the most suitable person to lead the country at this moment.

Raptor of racism

In advertising the Prime Minister's Award for 2019, the Ministry of Commerce's Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) included "maintaining the quality of Thainess" as one of the criteria for receiving the award.

Imagine how included residents of Thailand who are stateless, or Karen, Jewish, Islamic, Caucasian, Japanese, Indian, etc, feel when they read this racist and discriminatory nonsense put forth by the ministry.

A new dinosaur was discovered recently in Korat, called the Siamraptor suwati. Perhaps it explains the origins of the mindless activity of the government lately.

Mango Minister
Thai discrimination

I had a dream last night that the Canadian and American immigration departments placed as many obstacles in the way for Thais living in both countries as the Immigration Bureau here makes it difficult for Americans, Canadians and others. The Canadians of course, being so politically correct, conservative and namby-pamby would never do such a thing. But the Americans? Ahh, a different story.

President Trump should direct his immigration policies not only toward the Latin Americans, but against Thais as well. I could see the Thai government screaming its protests loud and clear…"discrimination"!

No critical thinking

I see that there is another call by an educator for students to learn critical thinking as mentioned in the Oct 10 report, "Human Capital Focus advised for GCI". Given that you can get badly beaten up, thrown in jail or even killed for being critical of some things here, I am surprised that anyone would want to develop this ability no matter how much it might improve business productivity.
