GROOMED TO BE KING

Born on July 28, 1952, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua was appointed the heir to the throne at the age of 20 by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.

After graduating from Chitralada School in Dusit Palace, His Majesty the King went to further his studies in the United Kingdom, then Australia where he entered the Royal Military College Duntroon. He graduated from the college in 1976 with the rank of lieutenant and a degree in liberal arts. His Majesty the King continues to pursue his passions for military affairs and flying.

THE ROYAL CORONATION

The coronation ceremony, held from May 4 to 6, has gone down in history as the day that saw the culmination of the kingship of the 10th reign of the Chakri Dynasty.

GUARDIAN OF THE NATION

Where there are natural disasters, His Majesty the King is among the first to send help. To improve the well-being of Thai people, especially those in rural areas, the King has initiated many development projects.

In agriculture, the King has paid attention to appropriate rice farming and the importance of developing better rice varieties. When it comes to healthcare, the King has built hospitals for people in faraway areas who otherwise would not have access to medical care.

The King has also provided financial support to the Education Ministry and schools around the country.
