Royal Speeches

The King’s profound care and consideration for the well-being of Thai people is reflected in his speeches delivered on several important occasions.

HONESTY TO THE PEOPLE

To the nation and all Thais with the three Buddhist gems of the Buddha, Dharma and monkhood as well as the Emerald Buddha as my witnesses amid the distinguished gathering, I, as the Crown Prince, will uphold the dignity and title that His Majesty has kindly bestowed upon me with my life.

I shall maintain my loyalty to the country and honesty to the people. I will perform my duties to the best of my abilities with dedication, for the prosperity, peace and lasting security of the Thai kingdom, till the day I die.

FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL THAIS

As the Chairman of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), serving as president of the Parliament, has invited me to ascend the throne to fulfil the will of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to conform to the Palace Law on Succession as well as the Constitution, I accept it to live up to the royal intention [of the late King] and for the benefit of all Thais.

I WILL PERFORM MY DUTIES ALONGSIDE THE THAI PUBLIC

I would like to extend my best wishes and blessings to all Thais on the occasion of the New Year. I want to thank you for the goodwill you have extended to support me in my every duty.

The crucial event that occurred in our country last year was the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol in October. The incident has brought grief and is considered a great loss for Thais across the country.

I feel so touched and impressed by the sight of Thai people from all walks of life who have come from near and far to pay respects to the late King’s body out of their loyalty and gratitude.

I would like to thank you for your cooperation which helped make the royal funeral ceremonies proceed smoothly. This shows that Thai people are kind-hearted. They value gratitude and act with generosity towards one another.

Thais are patriotic. They love the Kingdom. It is our national characteristic. Thai people are as knowledgeable and capable as citizens of any countries. That is why it should be trusted that if we put our heads and join our hands together we should certainly be able to tackle obstacles, problems or any incident of irregularities in our country.

On the occasion of the New Year, may Thai people set their hearts on preserving the quality and keep their minds bright with clear intelligence so that they can take into account what happened as it really did, without prejudice.

May the people have in store determination and moral courage to perform their duties, large or small, according to the guidance granted by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

May all the work be met with success that grows into goodness and prosperity, both for the people themselves and for the greater good of the nation as whole, as a reminder of the graciousness of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

I myself will perform my duties alongside the Thai public to the best of my abilities to honour the late King’s wishes as well.

May the power of the Three Holy Gems, sacred and respectable things, as well as the charisma of the past monarchs, including HM King Bhumibol, protect everyone so that you may be free from suffering and threat.

May you be happy physically and mentally and find only desirable prospects throughout the new year

With Love and Pure Heart

Greetings for 2019. With love and pure heart, may this year be filled with liveliness, health, happiness, and wisdom. May you have the encouragement and the will to bring happiness to yourself and others throughout the year and ever after.
