Buriram United marched into the final of the League Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Nongbua Pitchaya on Wednesday night.

The final is scheduled to take place on Sept 28 at Muang Thong United's SCG Stadium.

Buriram, who lead the Thai League 1 standings, were expected to dominate the second-tier Nongbua Pitchaya at the 72nd Anniversary Stadium in Min Buri and they did.

Apart from some brief moments of possession and a few scattered attacks by Nongbua, Buriram were the dominant side in the last night's semi-final.

The Thunder Castle got their first goal in the 14th minute when Apiwat Ngualumhin planted a header into the net.

Nongbua relied on counter-attacks with their striker Bladimir Diaz coming close shortly after conceding the first goal.

Buriram's Nacer Barazite missed an opportunity to widen the gap by firing wide.

The Dutch striker made up for the lapse early in the second half by setting up Korrakot Wiriya-udomsiri for the Thunder Castle's second goal.

Nongbua did try to make the score look respectable but were unable to make any meaningful inroads, finding Buriram defence too tough to pierce through.

Buriram, who have set the target of claiming all three domestic titles this year, enjoy a one-point advantage over Chiang Rai United in Thai League 1.

The Thunder Castle had to settle for just one trophy last year as Chiang Rai lifted the FA Cup and the League Cup.
