Thailand will play Iran in their opening second round match of the 2019 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in Seoul on Thursday.

The other two teams in Pool E are hosts South Korea and Taiwan, who meet earlier in the day.

In Pool F, 13-time winners China will play Kazakhstan while defending champions Japan meet Indonesia today.

The top two teams from each pool will progress to the semi-finals on Saturday with the final taking place on Sunday.

"We will play Iran tomorrow [Thursday]. They have tall players so we need to focus on improving our blocks," said coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul after a training session at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium yesterday.

"Our defensive game needs to be perfect for us to be able to deal with their superior height.

"We will not underestimate them [Iran]. They have their good moments so we will have to be at our best as well tomorrow."

Thailand have ensured their qualification for the 2020 AVC Women's Volleyball Olympic Qualification Tournament in January after reaching the second round this week and Danai said it was a good opportunity for his players and coaching staff to study their potential rivals.

"We will meet these teams again in the Olympic qualification tournament so we will use the next few days to study them more closely," Danai said.

"We need to work harder on all the details of each team."

The Thailand v Iran match begins at 5pm and will be shown live on Thai Rath TV.
