Thai shuttlers lose to China in world champions final

Mixed doubles stars Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai lost to China in the final of the BWF World Championships in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday.

The Thai shuttlers, seeded fourth in the competition, lost 8-21, 12-21 to world No. 1 Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong of China in their first try to win the world championships.

The Thai pair beat Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongqing of China 21-16, 21-16 on Saturday night in the semi-finals, guaranteeing the pair at least bronze medals.

Dechapol and Sapsiree were the only Thai players that went all the way to the final.

Ratchanok Intanon bowed out of the semi-finals in the BWF World Championships in Basel, Switzerland, on Saturday.
