Top seed Tai Tzu-ying advanced to the women's singles semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The world No.1 from Taiwan defeated India's world champion Pusarla V Sindhu, who is seeded sixth this week, 21-16, 21-16 in the quarter-finals of the US$400,000 BWF World Tour Super 500 event at Axiata Arena.

Tai will next play He Bingjiao after the Chinese seventh seed upset third seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-17, 21-10 in the other quarter-final.

Spain's triple world champion Carolina Marin eased past the 2017 winner, Saina Nehwal of India, 21-8, 21-7 in just 30 minutes.
