The Thai League 1 season has been suspended since March.

The Thai League 1 season will resume on Sept 12 and end on May 15, 2021, the Football Association of Thailand said yesterday.

The schedule was approved by the organisation's executive board at a meeting yesterday, FAT president Somyot Poompunmuang said.

The season was suspended in March after four round of matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bangkok United and Ratchaburi are joint leaders on 12 points, two ahead of Port and BG Pathum United.

The top four teams after the first half of the season will qualify for next year's AFC Champions League, according to Somyot.

Thai League 2 will also restart on Sept 12 and finish on April 25, 2021.

The FA Cup will start on Sept 30 with the final scheduled for May 22, 2021.

The League Cup will kick off on Oct 21 and the title match will be on May 1, 2021.

As teams have been affected during the coronavirus outbreak, the Sports Authority of Thailand will give each up to 500,000 baht, Somyot said.

Players' salaries have been cut during the halt and the SAT will give each 5,000 baht a month for three months.

Meanwhile, Thai League Co bosses yesterday sought advice from Germany's Bundesliga on measures for a restart during a videoconference.

The Bundesliga became the first top European league to resume at the weekend.

Its strict measures to combat the coronavirus include regular testing of players, games played behind closed doors and replacements wearing face masks.

Among Thai League officials at yesterday's discussion were Korrawee Pritsananantakul, deputy chairman of the league's organising committee, and director Benjamin Tan.

Tan said the Thai organisation would choose suitable measures as the two leagues are much different.
